How We Met
Brian and I worked
at Interactive Search, an online resume company in 1997. Dina
was just a peon at the company, doing data entry. Brian was
hired as a consultant, doing what computer engineers do.
When I went on my breaks, I noticed that Brian just happended
to take his breaks at the same time. As we got to know each
other, we realized that we had a lot in common. For instance,
we both enjoyed outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking,
rollerblading. We were both eco-aware. We both liked basketball
- I like to watch, he likes to play.
How We Got Engaged
Brian and I wanted to getaway
for a short vacation alone from all the hussle and bussle. We put
together a list of destinations including Denver, Maui, Seattle, and
Portland. I told my co-workers at ENSR, that Brian had made all the
plans and reservations for our trip. They said "oh...I know what's
going to happen, you're going to get ENGAGED!" But I didn't believe
them because Brian seemed to be himself and wasn't nervous at all.
We left for Seattle on Thursday, September 7th and drove to our
hotel- the beautiful Westin Inn in downtown Seattle. Our room had
a beautiful view of the city and the Space Needle. We walked around
town and ate at a pub. The next day we went to the biggest REI,
walked down to Pike Street Market along the pier, and went to the
Experience Music Project - an interactive music museum. That night
before dinner, Brian gave me a beautiful diamond and emerald heart
necklace. It was dazzling.
The next day we left the big city and headed north towards the
islands of Puget Sound. On our way there, we stopped at Deception
Pass State Park and went for a hike. The trail was spectacular-we
stopped at a point where the river met the ocean and where the pine
trees met the coast. Brian and I took a moment to enjoy the view
and he said "I have a question to ask you." I said "yes?" He asked,
"Would marry me?" I was so overwhelmed with happiness and joy, I
started to cry, but I still answered yes!!!
We went on our way and stayed at the historic Whidby Island Inn.
I had a bouquet of flowers that we had bought at Pike Street and
had it with me as we checked in. The woman at the reception counter
asked if there was a special reason for the flowers, and I had said
yes, we had just gotten engaged and that they were from my fiance'.
Our Life Together
We've been together for
over three and a half years and have learned alot about each other.
We both love to travel and have already visited many places together
including, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Kyoto (Japan),
Vancouver, Banff and Jasper (Canada), Belize, Washington D.C. and
Seattle!
For our honeymoon, We plan on going to Italy and Switzerland.
It has always been Dina's dream to go to Italy- the most romantic
place on earth. We will leave the Monday after our wedding and return
two weeks later.
We plan to travel the
world sometime in the near future...
